  • 1 lb Ground beef or ground turkey

  • 2 cloves Garlic or garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce for gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste or tomato sauce/ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme fresh thyme can enhance flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Salt adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon Ground black pepper can use white pepper
  • 1 cup Beef broth or chicken broth

For the Batter

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour can use gluten-free flour
  • 1 cup Milk or dairy-free milk
  • 3 large Eggs or egg replacers
  • ½ teaspoon Salt omit for low-sodium
  • 2 tablespoon Butter or olive oil for healthier option

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the chopped onion, diced carrots, and celery, and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
  • Mix in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, dried thyme, salt, and ground black pepper.
  • Pour in 1 cup of beef broth and bring to a gentle simmer for 5-10 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, eggs, and ½ teaspoon of salt until smooth. Let rest for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a muffin tin, add butter to each cup and melt in the oven for about 5 minutes.
  • Pour the Yorkshire pudding batter into each muffin cup, filling them halfway.
  • Spoon the filling over the batter in each cup.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  • Let cool for one minute before serving and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Prep ahead by making the filling and batter the night before. Store in the fridge and bake when ready. Avoid overmixing the batter for best texture.
