  • 3 tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups Milk whole or low-fat
  • 1 cup Chicken broth

For the Potatoes

  • 4 cups Potatoes thinly sliced
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika for garnish

For Garnishing

  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley chopped

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Season the pork chops with salt and pepper. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet, sear chops for 4-5 minutes on each side, then set aside.
  • Sauté sliced onion and minced garlic in the same skillet until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add flour and stir for 1-2 minutes to make a roux.
  • Pour in milk and chicken broth while stirring, simmer until thickened (3-5 minutes).
  • Layer half of sliced potatoes in a greased casserole dish, followed by half of the onion sauce and half of the cheese.
  • Repeat the layers: remaining potatoes, remaining sauce, and remaining cheese. Sprinkle paprika on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour, then uncover and bake for another 15-20 minutes until golden.
  • Let rest for 10 minutes, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve.
