Cooking Steps

  • Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside to cool.
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  • Combine the cooked meat with ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl until creamy.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Stuff each shell with the meat and cheese mixture and place seam-side up in a baking dish.
  • Pour marinara sauce evenly over the stuffed shells, ensuring coverage.
  • Sprinkle additional mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Let cool for a few minutes and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. These stuffed shells freeze wonderfully before baking, wrapped tightly for up to 3 months.
