For the Pasta

  • 1 teaspoon Pepper Fresh cracked pepper adds depth.
  • 1 medium Onion Chopped finely.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 14.5 ounces Diced tomatoes Use fresh or canned.
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste Provides a concentrated tomato flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning A blend of herbs.
  • ½ teaspoon Red pepper flakes Optional, adds heat.

For the Fresh Finish

  • ¼ cup Fresh basil Chopped.
  • ¼ cup Fresh parsley Chopped.
  • ½ cup Grated parmesan cheese For serving.

Cooking Instructions

  • Boil a large pot of salted water and cook trottole pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add minced beef, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook for 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove and keep warm.
  • In the same skillet, add chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Scrape up bits from the beef for added flavor.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, ensuring it doesn't burn.
  • Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Return the minced beef to the skillet and heat through for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the cooked trottole pasta, tossing gently to coat. Cook for an additional 2 minutes over low heat.
  • Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh basil and parsley.
  • Serve hot, generously sprinkling grated parmesan cheese on top.

Notes
