  • 1 large Egg beaten for wash

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a large skillet, combine unsalted butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook for 20 minutes until caramelized.
  • Stir in minced garlic, fresh thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  • In another skillet, cook Italian sausage until browned, breaking apart as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Combine cooked sausage with cooled onion mixture and shredded Gruyère cheese in a mixing bowl.
  • On a floured surface, roll out puff pastry sheets to smooth them out.
  • Cut pastry sheets into rectangles approximately 4 inches by 6 inches.
  • Place spoonfuls of filling at one end of each pastry rectangle, careful not to overfill.
  • Fold the pastry over the filling and press down edges to seal. Crimp with a fork.
  • Place rolls on the baking tray and brush tops with beaten egg.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Keep an eye on them while they bake.
  • Allow rolls to cool slightly before serving warm.
