Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  • Begin by heating 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once shimmering, add the asparagus and cook for about 3–5 minutes until crisp-tender and bright green. Remove the asparagus from the skillet and set it aside.
  • In the same skillet, add 4 tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt completely over medium heat. Add the chicken breast, seasoned with salt and pepper. Cook for about 3–5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  • When the chicken is browned, stir in the chopped garlic and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 1 minute until garlic is fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  • Pour in 1 cup of chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits. Increase heat to high and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the sauce has thickened slightly, stir in the juice and zest of the lemon along with the chopped dill. Gently fold in the asparagus.
  • Remove from heat and serve the chicken with asparagus alongside your favorite side.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze portions for up to 2 months. Avoid freezing asparagus if possible.
