  • 2 tablespoons fresh cilantro chopped, for freshness and vibrant flavor

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Start by heating 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 finely chopped medium onion and 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until the onion is translucent.
  • Increase heat to medium-high, add 1 pound of ground beef. Break apart as it cooks, browning thoroughly for about 7–8 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon each of ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for 2 minutes to let spices bloom.
  • Pour in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, mixing evenly into the meat. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Add ¼ cup of hot honey to the skillet and stir well. Cook for about 3 minutes, letting the honey meld with the meat.
  • Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Place 2 cups of cooked rice in the bottom of a serving bowl as the base.
  • Spoon the hot honey ground beef mixture over the rice, then add halved cherry tomatoes and sliced avocado on top.
  • Garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

Use high-quality ground beef for richer flavor and satisfying texture. Adjust spices to preference, and always use fresh produce.
