  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick adds a comforting warmth

  • 2 teaspoons Smoky black tea either loose-leaf or in tea bags

  • 1 cup Milk (dairy or non-dairy) try oat or almond milk for a twist

  • 1-2 tablespoons Brown sugar adjust to your liking

Cooking Steps

  • In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a vigorous boil over medium-high heat.
  • Once boiling, carefully add spices and simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Add smoky black tea and let it steep for 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in milk and brown sugar, bringing the mixture back to a simmer.
  • Allow to simmer on low heat for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat and strain the chai into mugs.

Notes

Use whole spices for the best flavor and adjust steeping time for desired strength.
