For the Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar for that sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and meringue powder until fully blended.
  • Gradually pour in the water and add the vanilla extract into the dry mixture. Stir gently until combined.
  • Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the mixture for about 5 minutes until it is smooth and glossy.
  • If the icing is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time. If too thin, sprinkle in more powdered sugar.
  • Divide the icing into bowls and mix in your chosen food coloring.
  • Using piping bags or a spatula, ice your cooled sugar cookies.
  • Let the decorated cookies sit out to dry completely for 6 to 8 hours.
