  • Slice the baguette into diagonal pieces, each about ½-inch thick.
  • Lightly drizzle the sliced baguette with olive oil.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and toast the baguette slices for about 8-10 minutes.
  • Combine the softened goat cheese with salt and pepper to taste in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Let the toasted baguette slices cool on the baking sheet for about a minute.
  • Spread the goat cheese mixture on each cooled toasted baguette slice.
  • Top each slice with a dollop of fig jam.
  • Sprinkle toasted walnuts or pecans over the fig jam.
  • Carefully arrange the assembled appetizers on a serving platter, garnishing with slices of fresh figs or apples if desired.
