For the Bread

  • 4 slices Challah or brioche bread

For the Custard

  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
  • 4 large Large eggs
  • 2 cups Strawberries fresh, sliced

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of heavy cream, ½ cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon until smooth.
  • Layer the 4 slices of challah or brioche bread in your greased baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  • Pour the custard mixture evenly over the arranged bread slices, making sure each piece is generously soaked.
  • Scatter the sliced strawberries evenly over the top of the soaked bread.
  • Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or ideally overnight.
  • Place the covered dish in your preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • After baking, remove the dish from the oven and let it cool slightly for about 5 minutes. Slice into portions and serve warm.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate the dish overnight to enhance the custard's richness and flavor.
