  • In a medium saucepan, heat 2 cups of whole milk over medium-low heat until steaming.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, whisking until dissolved.
  • Stir in 4 ounces of bittersweet chocolate, whisking until melted.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of cold water until smooth and stir into the hot chocolate.
  • Whisk the mixture for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  • Stir in ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  • Serve in mugs and top with whipped cream.

Notes
