Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  • Lay down the first sheet of phyllo dough in the greased baking dish, brush it with melted butter, and layer with six more sheets, applying butter between each.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine semolina flour, eggs, sugar, whole milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the filling over the prepared phyllo base and spread evenly with a spatula.
  • Place the last sheet of phyllo on top of the filling, brush with melted butter and score the top sheet lightly with a knife.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes until golden brown and the filling is set.
  • Allow the pie to cool for about 10 minutes, then drizzle warmed honey and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top.
  • Slice into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Keep phyllo sheets covered with a damp towel while working to prevent drying. Use a generous amount of butter between layers for the best texture.
