Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions for Salsa

  • Begin by chopping 3 ½ cups of fresh tomatoes into small, even pieces. To rid the tomatoes of excess liquid, place them in a strainer over a bowl and let them drain for about 5 minutes.
  • Once the tomatoes have drained, discard the liquid and transfer them to a blender or food processor. Add in ¼ cup of chopped onion, ⅓ cup of fresh cilantro, and 2 tablespoons of lime juice, along with 1 jalapeño pepper (seeds removed for milder heat), ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ½ teaspoon of black pepper.
  • Secure the lid on your blender or food processor and pulse the mixture. Blend until you reach your desired consistency—either smooth or slightly chunky. This normally takes about 15-30 seconds.
  • Once blended, carefully transfer the salsa into a clean jar or airtight container. Make sure to seal it tightly to maintain freshness. Store your delicious homemade salsa in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
