Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch x 13-inch cake pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, chocolate fudge instant pudding mix, sour cream, vegetable oil, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix on medium speed until fully combined.
  • Place the cake pan in the preheated oven and bake for 28-32 minutes.
  • Once baked, let your cake cool in the pan for 30 minutes. Poke holes all over the top of the cake with a wooden spoon handle.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups of milk until slightly thickened. Pour the pudding evenly over the top of the cake.
  • In a large bowl, whip together the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and chocolate instant pudding mix until thick and fluffy.
  • Spread the frosting over the top of the cake evenly.
  • Crush the Oreo cookies and sprinkle over the frosting.
  • Use black gel icing to write 'R.I.P.' on each Milano cookie and place them in the frosting.
  • Press the ghost Peeps into the frosting and arrange candy pumpkins around them.
  • Sprinkle Halloween-themed sprinkles over the top if desired.
  • Before serving, cut the cake into 12 slices.
