Step-by-Step Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter and powdered sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes. Gradually mix in the vanilla extract and 2–3 tablespoons of milk or heavy cream.
  • Divide the frosting into bowls for coloring. Add food coloring to each bowl, stirring until vibrant.
  • Match Chips Ahoy cookies into pairs based on size and shape, flipping one cookie of each pair upside down.
  • Using a piping bag or spatula, dollop a generous amount of colorful frosting onto the flat side of the upside-down cookie. Press the second cookie on top.
  • Gently press candy eyes into the sides of the frosting before it sets.
