Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions for Wonton Soup

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of finely chopped pork or shrimp with 1 teaspoon each of minced garlic and grated ginger. Use a fork to thoroughly mix the ingredients until well blended.
  • Take one wonton wrapper and place it on a clean, flat surface. Spoon a small amount of filling—about a teaspoon—into the center of the wrapper. Moisten the edges with a tiny bit of water, then fold the wrapper in half to create a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal.
  • In a large pot, fill it with 6 cups of water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, carefully add the wontons in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook them for about 3-5 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
  • In a separate pot, pour in 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth and stir in 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully. After about 5 minutes, add 1 teaspoon of chopped green onions.
  • Once the broth is simmering and the wontons are ready, ladle the hot broth into serving bowls. Gently place a few wontons into each bowl, allowing them to soak in the flavorful liquid.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and ensure wonton wrappers are sealed well to prevent leaks during boiling.
