Preparation Steps

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, brown sugar, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and ground nutmeg, tossing gently to coat.
  • Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the large eggs to the butter-sugar mixture, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with milk, mixing until just combined.
  • Grease the 9×13-inch baking dish thoroughly.
  • Pour half of the cake batter into the baking dish.
