  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar for about 2 minutes until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the diced apples and chopped walnuts gently until evenly distributed.
  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden brown, then cool on the baking sheets.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth for the glaze.
