Ingredients
  

For the Tofu

  • 1 block Extra-Firm Tofu Press to ensure crispness
  • ¼ cup Cornstarch For coating tofu

For the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce Adds umami flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Rice Vinegar Balances sweetness
  • 3 tablespoons Honey Use maple syrup for vegan
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced for flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger Grated for spice
  • ½ teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Optional for heat
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Enhances sauce flavor

For Frying and Garnishing

  • ½ cup Cooking Oil Neutral oil for frying

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Press the tofu by wrapping it in paper towels and placing a heavy object on top for at least 30 minutes.
  • Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.
  • Coat the tofu cubes in cornstarch until evenly covered.

Cooking

  • Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Fry the tofu cubes for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until crispy and golden brown.
  • Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a bowl to make the sauce.
  • Drain the fried tofu on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Simmer the honey garlic sauce in the same skillet for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.
  • Add the tofu to the skillet and toss it gently to coat in the sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired before serving.
