  • 0.5 cups fresh dill chopped

For the Spices

  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom or Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper

For the Binding and Frying

  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour optional
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying

  • 1 cup tahini sauce for dipping

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Soak the chickpeas in cold water for at least 8 hours or overnight. Drain and rinse well.
  • In a food processor, blend the soaked chickpeas, onion, garlic, and herbs until a coarse paste forms.
  • Add flour and baking soda to the mixture, combine gently and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 3 minutes.
  • Shape the falafel mixture into balls or patties, about the size of a golf ball.
  • Place the falafel in the air fryer basket, lightly spray with oil, and air fry for 12-14 minutes.
  • Serve the falafel warm with tahini sauce.
