Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Gather all ingredients, chop bok choy, slice shiitake mushrooms, julienne carrot, mince garlic, and grate ginger.
  • In a large pot, combine chicken or vegetable broth and water over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot once it simmers, stirring for about 1 minute.
  • Incorporate chopped bok choy, sliced shiitake mushrooms, and julienned carrots, and gently stir for 5-7 minutes.
  • Add gyoza to the pot, ensure they are submerged, and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float.
  • Stir in soy sauce and sesame oil, taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  • Remove pot from heat, ladle soup into bowls with broth, vegetables, and gyoza.
  • Garnish each bowl with sliced green onions and optional cilantro or parsley, then serve hot.

Notes

For best flavor, sauté garlic and ginger in sesame oil before adding broth and water. Adjust vegetable types as desired.
