  • In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil, stirring until sugar dissolves (2-3 minutes).
  • Gently add rinsed cranberries to the boiling syrup and simmer for about 10 minutes until cranberries begin to pop.
  • In a small bowl, mix together ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cinnamon-spice mixture until all cranberries are coated.
  • Strain cranberries from syrup using a fine mesh sieve, allowing excess syrup to drain.
  • Spread strained cranberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cool for about 15 minutes.
  • Toss cranberries in additional granulated sugar until completely coated.
  • Let the sugared cranberries sit on parchment paper for about an hour to dry.
  • Transfer the dried cranberries to an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Ensure sugar is completely dissolved before adding cranberries, and let the sugar coating dry thoroughly for the best crunch.
